The Environment and Energy Department of the Basilicata region, in line with a specific European directive, has started the activities related to the plan to monitor the presence of coypu, alien species on the national territory. The intervention, shared by the director general of the department Michele Busciolano and by the councilor Gianni Rosa, aims to safeguard the natural biodiversity of flora and fauna typical of the lake environments of our mouths along the Metapontine coast and at the same time allows operators to control the possible presence of external threats from other species.
THEParks Office, biodiversity and nature protection, through the installation of cages, has initiated the operations of capturing wild animals in order to guarantee a targeted action that excludes the risk of impacts on other animal species. The operation is part of a project approved by the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, carried out by the Office in charge with the help of the forestry police of the area and volunteer operators of the Wild Animal Recovery Center and sea turtles from the WWF oasis of Policoro.
