Mario Oliverio, Chairman of the Calabria Region, took part in a meeting that took place in Rende (Cosenza) and which had as its theme the coexistence of hunting, hunting tourism and agriculture. In particular, there was talk of the contribution that hunters can make for defense purposes and enhancement of the Calabrian wildlife heritage. Oliverio then announced that the new law text which will regulate the regional hunting activity, with an open discussion regarding the definition of the final text.
Approval should take place as soon as possible. Even the game plan for hunting, then, it is being examined by the Regional Council. Among the most urgent topics is the repopulation of native species: we must avoid importing and focus more on reproduction on the territory. The governor then recalled the problems related to the formation of selecontrollers and the excessive number of wild boars. This is why there will be special withdrawal plans with in-depth training courses.
The intervention plan will be prepared with the representatives of the national parks. The courses have not been held for more than 15 years, an endless wait that makes the investment by the Calabria Region urgent. Finally, Oliverio referred to the constitution of theRegional Wildlife Hunting Observatory, a tool that should govern the various issues in the best possible way.
