Activists of the LAV (Anti-Vivisection League) they organized a new protest against the Decathlon stores. This time the animal rights activists went into action in Florence, to be precise in front of the commercial establishment in Via Rastrelli. The request is always the same, close the department dedicated by the chain of sporting goods to hunting activities. As usual, the volunteers were a few dozen and they talked to customers for support, reconverting the department.
Hunting was defined in this case as a "violent and polluting" activity. Several weeks ago the LAV protested with sit-ins also in Milan, Turin, Rome, Mantua, Padua, Catania, Bassano del Grappa, Bari, Venice, Bologna e Macerata. Decathlon has long since clarified its position on the matter, so it is worth remembering the message published after the first disputes: "Decathlon, which has had a multisport vocation for more than 40 years, responds with its offer, albeit partially, to the needs of this practice, as it does for over 150 sports. Our Solognac brand, which conceives most of our offer for hunters, but also for those who love to live in nature, promotes ethical and responsible hunting.
We believe that being a hunter implies a strong responsibility, in engaging for the respect of bio-diversity, also in line with agricultural and forestry activities. Our will is to operate transparently on the market, guaranteeing a basic offer, in order to interpret the practice with the aforementioned responsibility".
