Rodolfo Ziberna, mayor of the city of Gorizia, has launched a proposal relating to the wild boar hunting in this area of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The suggestion is to liberalize the collection of specimens that are less than one year old. The idea was made public via Facebook, with the first citizen determined to step in for curb the emergency and avoid problems related to these wild. Here is what Ziberna wrote on the social network: "We need to liberalize the hunting of class zero boar for a year, or under one year of age, that is the one that produces the most damage, to defend ourselves from the serious and continuous damage caused by these animals.
It is a proposal that I made several times to the previous regional council and that I will renew to the current one. This is a problem that has become particularly worrying in recent years due to the serious risk that vineyards, crops, pastures but also cars and other assets run, which are also joined by risks for the safety of people. The damage caused amounts to hundreds of thousands of euros every year and without decisive actions the phenomenon will continue in its dangerous growth trend derived if only from the great fertility and reproductive capacity of the wild boar, from its great adaptability of a climate favorable habitat and food supply, by the substantial lack of enemies or elements that can stop its growth.
Among the corrective measures it is necessary to further extend hunting periods and hours, as in Slovenia, always allowing it, all year round, disciplining it differently. Furthermore, I believe it is advisable not to eliminate the slaughtered animals, however with high costs, but to use the meat to feed families who live in economic hardship or in any case by allocating the proceeds to the same purposes ".
