The objectives of the provincial plan
10% less every year: this is the objective declared by Province of Alessandria which wants to progressively reduce the number of attacks and damage caused by wild boars in this area of Piedmont. This is why the green light was given to the ungulate control plan which will last five years, starting in 2024 and ending in 2028.
Who will be able to apply the plan
The calculation is therefore not complicated, the aim is to reduce the extent of the incursions of these wild animals by half, certainly an ambitious goal but one in which the local authority strongly believes. The plan will be implemented by volunteer hunting guards, land owners (with relevant authorization) and hunters. The application will however be linked to the progress of the PSA.
Restriction areas
As is known, in Piedmont there is one of the highest incidences of African swine fever, consequently the control plan will become a comprehensive reality only in areas that are free from these infections. Cullings can also take place in the so-called "restriction zones", but provided that the rules set by the PSA emergency commissioner are followed.
