Hunting: Umbria, meeting between the exponents of Federcaccia and the Province of Perugia on the management of the Hunting Activity, "priority points established to raise the quality of hunting".
After the stomach ache expressed by the Federcaccia regarding the additional boar jokes, authorized by the Provinces of Terni and Perugia - during the month of January - throughout the region, a meeting with the President was held with the Province of Perugia. Guasticchi, the delegated provincial councilor Granocchia, the leaders Lucarelli and Cecchetti and the commander of the provincial police, Mosconi. For the Federcaccia were present the regional president Di Marco, the provincial president Barbino and the secretary Pippi. The representatives of the Province explained to Federcaccia the reasons that led to the drafting of the determination that authorized a further four bars to the suide. However, Federcaccia acknowledged the correct behavior of the boar hunting teams, which during the entire hunting season made the utmost effort to achieve the objectives set by the territorial hunting areas (Atc).
As far as we know, this commitment has resulted in the completion of culling plans in almost all areas of free territory indicated for wild boar hunting, which - on the contrary - did not take place in private institutions, within which the overall number of suide culls was very modest. Precisely for this reason Federcaccia asked the Province to verify the management of the species in these institutes. The meeting with the organization was then an opportunity to address various other themes of strong hunting value. Federcaccia and the Province of Perugia shared a series of priority topics to be pursued within a short time.
1. Greater and better attention to the production of sedentary game: on this subject, Dr. Cecchetti illustrated various plans for strengthening the production systems of noble sedentary game, which has characteristics of greater rusticity and ability to adapt to life in nature. The projects will mainly concern pheasant, gray partridge, red partridge and rock partridge for homogeneous territories.
2. Establishment of areas of respect and irradiation, with the possibility of creating them also in derogation pending the approval of the provincial wildlife plan, as implemented by the Province of Terni. The technicians of the Province of Perugia have undertaken to carefully check this.
3. Plans for the containment of opportunistic species, also with the possibility, according to the regulations in force, to operate even outside the traditional hunting periods and with adequately effective means.
4. The need to move towards a reorganization of the ATC was also shared, with the objectives of cost containment, a significant bureaucratic streamlining and a better technical management of the fauna and the environment, from which an increase in the quality of the game produced and released on the territory, also making practicable the rules contained in the regional plan on the production and purchase of permanent noble game. Both the Province and Federcaccia have hoped that the reform can take place within the time frame established by the regional council, that is, on May 31 this year.
5. Finally, particular attention was paid to the approval of the Provincial Wildlife-Hunting Plan, which should incorporate and integrate the directives contained in the Regional Plan approved in 2006. In this regard, the technicians and institutional representatives of the Province, reiterating that the works on the Plan they are well advanced, they have undertaken to dismiss him definitively within the shortest possible time.
Federcaccia evaluates the meeting in an overall positive way, and hopes that the intentions can be passed to concrete actions within the shortest possible time, in the common interest of enhancing the hunting activity.
