The report by Matteo Viviani, broadcast during the Tuesday evening episode of Reservoir Dogs. By instrumentalizing dramatic and very serious but fortunately isolated events, the usual stereotypes have been re-proposed that citizens holding arms as a serious danger to society. However, we note that:
1 - the service carefully avoids citing the research of the University of Rome La Sapienza *, which analyzes a period of eleven years (2007-2017) in great detail from the point of view of a third party and decidedly authoritative, to focus instead on figures drawn uncritically from the usual disarmament associations and therefore ideologically involved;
2 - in this regard, a more accurate verification of the data summarily and distortedly reported allows us to affirm that a good third of the 51 victims cited have been forcibly included in the list, just to make it more substantial and sensationalist, since it is actually crimes with illegal weapons (3), euthanasia or compassionate acts (4) or "assisted suicides" by a consenting person (5), crimes committed with weapons stolen from the holder without custody (5), crimes committed with weapons ordinance (2), accidents (1) et cetera ...
3 - the proposed numbers are inconsistent: we are talking about gun license holders for skeet shooting but then they are charged, without any specification, for crimes committed with weapons held by holders of another type of license which in total are about 8 -10 times more numerous (thus emerging a much lower statistical incidence);
4 - we insist on depicting the gun license for skeet shooting as a "shortcut" to buy weapons and we omit, as always, to consider that the same weapons can also be purchased with the Quaestor's clearance;
5 - the holders of sports firearms are compared with the members of the federations, as if there were not hundreds of thousands of amateur sportsmen who practice shooting at a recreational level without being registered with any federation;
6 - it is very serious not only to affirm or imply again that obtaining a firearms license is a mere formality, thus debasing all the investigation of the PS and the medical control system of the applicants, but even more so that there are no controls on arms holders and that once licenses have been issued they are impossible to revoke (!), when we all know that on the contrary it is extremely easy to lose weapons and licenses for any report and that arms holders often have to see themselves victims of acts of administration as a result of complaints and instrumental reports when not totally false if not even for kinship, friendships or acquaintances considered "disreputable".
All this, of course, without any contradiction but simply by becoming the media megaphone of the associations for the disarmament of citizens. Not only that, but even going so far last night to delete hundreds and hundreds of comments left on their Facebook page by as many gun owners who felt (unmotivated?) Offended and defamed by the service in question, thus confirming the orientation partial of the authors and editors, who after having broadcast such a shameful report do not even have the courage to accept the consequent and necessary criticisms.
We are obviously close to and in solidarity with the victims, direct and indirect, of the serious crimes shown in the service and we are the first to argue that the controls on the holders of weapons must be efficient in order to safeguard public safety and reduce as much as possible or hopefully eliminate abuses and accidents, but sincerely we can only condemn any generalization and any criminalization of an entire category composed of more than four million citizens carefully selected and controlled by the PS Authority and whose real criminogenic rate is substantially equal to zero (<0,001 %), nor do we believe that continually discrediting legal arms holders by invoking purely prohibitive restrictions is in any way useful for resolving the problems set out.
