The note from Federcaccia Chieti
Bruno De Felice, number one of the provincial Federcaccia of Chieti, commented on the recent approval of the new calendar of Abruzzo: "We cannot remain silent and distance ourselves from the approval of the new hunting calendar for the 2023/2024 season, which humiliates the approximately 15 hunters from Abruzzo, unjustly penalized compared to those in the neighboring regions, providing for senseless and punitive time limitations on the hunting exercise, with considerably delayed openings and early closures with respect to the laws in force on the subject, causing heavy repercussions also on the regional economy”.
Collected scientific data
"The Hunting Office of the Agriculture Department has completely renounced exercising the discretionary power which allowed choices supported by copious scientific data collected in recent years, thanks to the work carried out by the Territorial Hunting Areas in collaboration with the Region, and limiting itself to draw up a calendar that steals almost two months of activity from the Abruzzo people, evidently considered second-class hunters compared to their colleagues in the other Regions. Furthermore, disregarding what has always been the indications of the Federcaccia ".
The calendars of neighboring regions
“In fact, it would have been enough to resume the calendar approved by the neighboring regions which, although perfectible, did not show any critical issues and guaranteed a correct balance between the needs of fauna protection and profitable hunting. We appeal to a reasonable rethinking by the Region, to return to being the national model of rural activities” (source: FIDC).
