THEHigher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA) decided to publish a three-page document in which he explored the question of wild boars and road accidents certainly not rare. The institution wants to suggest the methods to be exploited in areas where the presence of ungulates is massive. The advice in question is different, in particular it has been proposed to impose speed limits on cars along straights or in those road sections where visibility is limited. Furthermore, ISPRA is convinced that the wild can be less dangerous by installing bumps and fences.
There is also no lack of reference to new speed cameras to be installed along the asphalt to force motorists to moderate their speed. The same goes for land and private areas that should be cleared from weed vegetation. The reasoning is simple: for the institute, it is not the fault of the stray boars at all but of the drivers who have their foot a little too heavy on the accelerator. The attitude obviously concerns all the other ungulates at risk, such as for example deer and roe deer.
Fabrizio Turba, Undersecretary with responsibility for relations with the Lombardy Regional Council, commented on the document as follows: "ISPRA's indications leave us disconcerted and seriously concerned about the objective difficulties in which our farmers could find themselves in the first place. In the coming weeks we will adopt new measures to simplify the methods of carrying out law enforcement activities and a streamline procedures to obtain boar hunting license. What is certain is that if the ISPRA indications were adopted, a problematic situation would at least be created ”.
