In addition to wild boars, in Molise you have to contend with the wolf emergency. As pointed out by the Regional Coldiretti, it is not only the ungulates that create problems for crops and not only that, the packs of wolves attack livestock with frightening frequency and are approaching inhabited centers. That's why for the agricultural association it serves as never before an extraordinary wildlife control plan.
The exponential increase of the wild boar has gone hand in hand with that of predators, so the coincidence shouldn't be too surprising. According to the Molise Coldiretti, wolves are thought to contain the wild, but is not so. The situation is by no means reassuring and the farmers are now demanding urgent intervention from the Region: in addition to the selection hunt, more incisive measures have been requested to ensure the regular and normal development of the agricultural activities and of the zootechnical ones.
Furthermore, a more careful control of the wolves would allow to avoid dangers for the safety of citizens. For the moment man cannot defend himself as the species is protected and not huntable, yet some solution must be found quickly. We await a response from the local authority to understand how to organize in the coming weeks.
