Confagricoltura organizes a Palazzo della Valle in Rome an in-depth meeting entitled “African Swine Fever: A threat to the pig sector. A challenge to manage " to be held on 14 December next. The appointment will be a moment of deepening on one viral disease not transmissible to humans, but which affects pigs - both pigs and wild boar - causing considerable economic damage, especially for the repercussions on exports, being transmissible also through processed pork and wild boar.
There is no vaccine against this disease which, therefore, can only be addressed through biosecurity measures on the farm, wildlife control and border control on the import of processed pork food by vehicles, but also by individual travelers (airports, road transport, railways and sea).
Given the worrying expansion of the disease in the community e the possibility that this may also affect our country, Confagricoltura has planned this technical meeting with institutional and community stakeholders to think about strategies to counter the expansion of the disease and proceed to its eradication and to raise awareness on the subject the categories, such as that of the hunting world and transporters, useful for achieving these objectives.
