A story that never seems to end. Hunting in sites of the Natura 2000 area of the Marche it has been suspended again: it had previously been there a similar measure, but the animal rights appeal had been overcome with a special decree. The Marche Regional Administrative Court, however, accepted the suspension request for the second time. Three associations presented the request, namely LAC (League for the Abolition of Hunting), WWF and ENPA (National Animal Protection Authority).
Hunting activities will not be allowed on these sites despite the interest of the Marche Region and the amendment of the law which regulates the topic (at the beginning of last November). In short, the regional council had wanted to unblock the hunting calendar relating to the 2018-2019 season after the sentence of the Council of State. The latter had noted the absence of adequate planning at the regional level.
The amendment to the Marche law had partially solved the problems with an extension of the five provincial wildlife plans, pending the regional one by the end of 2019. The judges of the TAR will have to discuss the merits of the case on January 23, yet another chapter of a "novel" that never seems to end.
