I mountain passes continue to be a very current issue in the hunting sector, especially as regards Lombardy. The Hon. spoke about it in the last few hours. Barbara Mazzali, regional councilor for Tourism and has always been very close to issues that closely concern hunters.
Anachronistic vision
Here is what he wrote about it on his social accounts: “The recent ruling of the Council of State on the crossing issue has highlighted the anachronistic vision that law 157/92 brings back to us after over 30 years of existence. Not even an interpretation of the law evolved to the current context can overcome the management gap that the law imposes on us".
A conscious and responsible withdrawal
Mazzali then added: “Today the protection of fauna finds its raison d'être in the establishment of SPAs and SICs, not in a general ban on hunting activity on the passes. Hunting is also the protection of fauna through conscious and responsible harvesting; no hunter aims to deplete wildlife populations, whether sedentary or migratory, but trusts and works for good wildlife and environmental management. This is why a structural change to national law is necessary".
