Wild Boar Hunting: Brescia, the hunting season begins on Saturday in the territory of the Alto Garda municipalities.
The controversial extraordinary measures authorized in the park led to the removal of only five animals. The countdown is about to run out and from Saturday, with the now customary corollary of controversy and recriminations, it will be possible to hunt the wild boar. The season will last about three months and will allow the killing with the hunted method, the one with the use of the hound in the free hunting areas, the "low" area of the Garda hinterland.
The Province has established the rules of engagement in the territory of the Municipalities of the Alto Garda Bresciano Park. In Gardone Riviera, Toscolano Maderno, Gargnano, Tignale, Tremosine and Limone it will be possible to shoot until November 30th for one day a week, always on Saturdays. Then, from 3 to 28 December, the days will double and the jokes can also be organized on Wednesdays. Net of the debate and the physiological attacks of animal rights activists, against the backdrop of the new hunting season a question arises linked to the protection of the biodiversity of the Alto Garda Park: are the colonies of wild boars in decline? The question arises spontaneously by analyzing the data of the census carried out in the last two years: in 2012 449 animals were culled. In 2013, the presence of pigs was estimated at 496 heads in the lower area of the park and 182 in the protected areas further north, those of the natural park.
For this hunting season, in "zone 6", that of upper Garda, where the presence of wild boars is theoretically massive, the Province has foreseen the killing of 256 animals for an official estimate, according to the data of the census carried out by the district alpine CA8, of 262 animals. This number is always significant when compared to that of the other areas of the Brescia pre-Alps. In fact, the killing of 98% of the animals surveyed is authorized in the Park against the 90% allowed in the other districts: zone 4 (Valtrompia) 31 animals that can be killed against the estimated 35, zone 5 (upper Sebino) 14 killing for 16 animals present, zone 7 and 9 (Vallsabbia) 72 garments out of 80, zone 8 (Darfo), 15 against 17. The trend of the park goes against the trend. "Even in the areas of Magasa and Valvestino off-limits to the three teams of hunters operating in the lower part of the park - the Agriculture Office of the Mountain Community informs - the Province has authorized the selection hunters to ungulates such as chamois, deer, mouflon for slaughter of 62 heads of the suide, 66% less than last year when the animals counted in the protected areas were estimated at 182 ».
To support these considerations there are also the results, in truth modest, of the first three months of "containment" exits carried out by the teams of authorized selecontrollers in the natural park areas in Tignale and Tremosine. As you will remember, in the spring of 2013, after various vicissitudes, including political ones in the Mountain Community, a regulation was approved for the collection of wild boar in the Alto Garda Park. There was curiosity about the effects of the solution adopted for the containment of the species. Well, "from the end of June - explain the technicians of the agriculture office of the Mountain Community - the first weekly outings, which took place only on Wednesday evening or at dawn the following day, allowed the removal of only five animals, all in the Tignale area". So much ado about nothing ... or almost.
