I hunters of the Island of Elba they raised their voices to make their opinion on the mouflon slaughter plan, highlighting the differences between what happens inside the park and the external territory. According to Alexander Fulcheris, spokesperson forNational Free Hunting Association, it is a lack of respect, without forgetting the silence twenty days after what should have been the opening day of hunting.
The abatement plan has not yet been approved and the responsibility for this situation cannot yet be identified (Region or ISPRA). In this way the island hunters are harmed, as they have paid their taxes and ATC. The killing has already begun in the park and for Libera Caccia the problem would consist in hostility towards the hunting world, which should and could be a valid support to solve the problem of wild boars and mouflons in excess.
Inside the park, a protected area, hunters cannot be involved and only control interventions are carried out. The association asked that the ideological barriers that hinder hunting be eliminated, making the Island of Elba a park where hunting is useful for the rebalancing of natural populations and the well-being of residents.
