Great acclaim abroad
After the happy Slovenian experience, an Evaluation Commission of the Italian Faunistic Biometric Academy was invited this year to the Canton of Ticino, a clear sign that the Italian organization continues to gain consensus and admiration abroad too. Thanks to the good relations maintained by the member Pierangelo Duci with the hunters of the Canton, the National Union of the Alps (UNCZA) promoted the event in Olivone-Blenio in March. Under the orders of the President of the Commission Luigi Gasperi, a large group of CIC Certified Measurers among whom we mention for brevity only the CCMs Sandro Flaim and Gianfranco Giuglar, measured 42 trophies: 18 deer, 5 roe deer, 8 ibex, 10 chamois and a wild boar , largely representative of local faunal resources.
Praise and appreciation
The quality found is easily understood from the 10 gold, 4 silver and 11 bronze medals awarded. If in the art of measurements the Commission received the praise and appreciation of the local organizers and hunters, the Italian measurers were struck by the participation of entire school groups visiting the exhibition which testifies to how in that highly civilized nation sampling is an integral part of life in the valleys without the prejudices that afflict us in our own.
An unmissable cultural opportunity
An activity like the others perfectly inserted into the social fabric, carried out in ways tested over time and regulated by widely shared laws. For the younger ones, an unmissable cultural opportunity to get to know the species of the area up close which would otherwise be difficult to approach except from a long distance and on a fleeting basis. It is to be hoped that this happy experience will continue in the coming years, as we understand from the demonstrations of sympathy expressed by our fellow Swiss hunters (source: FIDC).
