Selection hunting: Savona, 1.500 roe deer to be killed according to the felling plan; the selection of ungulates began on June 16.
The number of roe deer to be killed in the hunting territories of the province of Savona has been set at 1.496 head, including the alpine area and the hunting farm of Piana Crixia. The resolution approved by the provincial council fixes the selection hunt in the periods between June 16 and July 14 and from August 16 to September 29 for males; from 1 January 2014 to 15 March 2015 for female specimens; these periods the selective withdrawal activity must take place on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. The organization and technical-scientific coordination of the ungulate censuses in the province was handled by the Distav Department of the University of Genoa, and submitted to the opinion of Ispra (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research). In the census a population of 13.058 head was assessed and on the basis of this figure a selective collection plan was set up aimed at reducing the number of roe deer by 11,5%, equal to 1.496 head. Weekly monitoring will be carried out to eventually rebalance the abatement plan.
