Hunting: Sicily, ARS files a bill aimed at modifying the Law on Hunting Activities on the Island; inserted fixed stalks and hunting in derogation.
"On June 13, a bill amending the so-called Hunting Law was filed with ARS, signed by me and 25 other fellow deputies, with the exclusive exception of colleagues from the M5S", illustrates the regional deputy of the NCD, Hon. Nino Germanà. “It was essential to put hand to the Regional Law of 1 September 1997, n.33, in some points evidently inadequate. The precious suggestions offered by the National Hunters Union were welcomed ”. Continuing Germanà explained, "The design envisages the establishment of the management committees of the Territorial Areas of Hunting, and - fundamental - the introduction of the regulation of the" withdrawal in derogation "and of the" fixed stalking ", as well as the unification of the two sub-provincial hunting areas in a single - without prejudice to the possibility of accessing three other provincial hunting areas on request -. It will be possible to use the forest state property for hunting purposes, as well as to carry out high dog-loving competitions within the Parks.
The design also tries to smooth out the contrasts between environmentalist and hunting associations which are invited to confront each other, sitting at the same discussion table with the aim that everyone equally assumes responsibility for the management of the Sicilian territory. While waiting for the classroom to approve the design, I can only express enormous satisfaction with this first important step forward. We tend to consider the hunter as a poacher but, let's be clear, these are figures at the antipodes.
Hunting is a millenary activity that must be carried out in absolute respect for the environment and we hunters - the category I am proud to belong to - really ask to be in a position to carry out our activity in a regulated manner. And especially in regions like ours, where traditions survive and the territory allows it, we must work to find the balance that allows this activity not to disappear ”.
