Regional provision
La Tuscany regional council on the proposal of the Vice President Stefania Saccardi, approved a new provision which allows the use of the paper hunting card, for the annotation and subsequent reporting, of the killed heads of the starling species (sturnus vulgaris). As has already happened in previous hunting seasons, the collection of the species can be carried out either through the use of the AppToscaccia (electronic card) or alternatively with the paper document.
Annotation of the leaders
After the two pre-opening days, in which the starling could be taken exclusively by noting the animals on the electronic card, it was deemed appropriate to allow the use of paper to broaden the audience of hunters interested in this particular form of hunting, especially in consideration of the need to encourage an increase in the harvesting of the species as a consequence of the damage caused to crops (vineyards, olive groves and orchards in particular) given also the reduced production recorded. An element of sensitivity and common sense that councilor Saccardi wanted to affirm precisely to continue a constructive and positive relationship with the needs of the agricultural world and of hunting that respects wildlife conservation but also is functional in maintaining a necessary balance with the production of the excellence of our territory.
New implementing regulation
This provision follows the already concrete and positive acts of this legislature by Vice President Saccardi: from the possibility of carrying out hunting activities during Covid-19, to the approval of the new implementing regulation of regional law 3 of 1994, to the possibility of controlled hunting with a renewed and enhanced role of wild boar hunting teams, essential for the prevention of ASF and correct management of ungulates. A balanced choice which once again demonstrates the ability of the department and the competent offices to give concrete and thoughtful answers to real problems and which have seen Federcaccia Toscana UCT constantly searching for a positive outcome in the general interest of all hunters .
