The hare test organized by the local ANLC section in collaboration with the Cinofilo di Poggibonsi Group took place on the last weekend of January at Staggia Senese in Val d'Elsa.
The organizers, Messrs. Barderi and Leoncini, made every effort to ensure that everything ran smoothly, the qualified jury was made up of the kind Mrs. Elena Marcaletti and Messrs. Fabio Butini, Tiziano Selvatici and Gianni Turcatti. The two days of testing were characterized by a northern breeze that made the smell already compromised by this year's drought in the Sienese land even weaker.
On the first day, dedicated to couples, there were many enthusiasts from all over the region stimulated by the first real test before the start of the Veltro Corrente Trophy. Four batteries at the start, the tests took place on the typical Sienese lands, with gentle cultivated hills interspersed with groves where the orecchiuta finds refuge during the day.
Due to the ground conditions, the first day did not allow for spectacular and exciting rounds, with few couples in the standings. The heats ended with the absolute victory of the couple Pelo and Moira di Mattei Umberto di Montepiano followed by Giada and Mary di Pierangioli Valter di Montalcino.
The second day saw numerous fans participate once again, with three heats in the single category and one heats in the mute category. Once again difficult conditions for the bloodhounds, very difficult even subjects of proven skill demonstrated on national and European terrains.
At the end of the shifts the Italian hound pf Samba di Pompiano was proclaimed absolute first in the single category by the neophyte of the tests Signorini Giorgio from the Island of Elba followed by Zurich by the lovely Butini Vanessa from Colle Val d'Elsa.
The only battery of the wetsuits saw the hounds of Petruccioli Giovanni di Mentana excel who, denoting an excellent dressage, carried out a good turn which ended with a brilliant and pressing sequel. Following the pack of Montiani Enrico di Montepulciano and the pack of Raspini Angelo di Incisa Valdarno.
At the end of the award ceremony the Memorial "Boddi Marco" prize was awarded to Mr. Mattei Umberto thanks to the sum of the results achieved in the two days of testing. Both days ended at the table in the best culinary tradition between jokes and stories of those indelible days in the memory of every passionate dog lover.
