ANUU Migratoristi provides the news on the migratory step in our country, Report at the end of the semester.
At the end of this first half of 2013, it should be noted that the FEIN Ornithological Observatory in Arosio reached a remarkable number of 184.105 ringed birds. These ringings have been carried out since August 4, 1977, since, in fact, these studies began to be carried out in a continuous and standardized form. We are now close to the 190.000 birds analyzed and, it is assumed, this can happen by the end of the year if the weather conditions, together with the good number of migrants, accompany the post-nuptial migration. The first semester, however, closed with 285 ringed specimens belonging to 33 different species (a dozen more than in 2012, 2011 and 2010). These latest data underline once again, as already written in our previous reports, how the forced migration by negative weather agents has forced many species to make their return journey in stages.
The tree structure of the Observatory, which in these periods is the object of preparation by the team, has shown in these periods, and is also demonstrating in this breeding season, how important its location is for the hospitality offered to the little winged ones. who use it as an important stage during the migration phases during the course of their life.
