Sirio Bussolotti, regional president of Arci Caccia Tuscany, and Sisto Dati, national vice president of Free Hunt issued a joint statement. Here is the text: “We learned with some amazement the news of the appeal presented by URCA Nazionale against the plan removal of female and small roe deer. Our association, far from wanting to contest the ethical sensitivity of the selecontrollers, has always fought the method, typical of the animal rights world, of wanting to manage with stamped papers.
Surely the judiciary is too concerned with governing hunting and we find it extremely negative that it is an association of hunters to increase this malpractice which until now was the prerogative of other sectors. That of confrontation and dialogue, at least for us, is always the main way forward. Furthermore, we would like to share the guiding thread of the interventions of the CIA and Confagricoltura managers, which is the same that we read in the heartfelt intervention of Roberto Vivarelli, president of ATC Siena Nord. Was there a need to stop the withdrawal right now, with the fields full of ripe crops? Grapes and summer cereals are in the process of being harvested and we are in the moment of maximum vulnerability for damage. Was there a need to create such a deep rift with farmers?
And above all, who will pay for any increased damage? Here we have an answer: hunters, as always. We do not dispute the merits of the diatribe, most likely also in this provision there is matter for reflection, but the method, applied without taking into account the consequences. This is why we welcomed with great pleasure the intervention of the URCA Regional President Carlo Ballerini, who distances himself from "Hand stroke" by the National President of URCA Antonio Drovandi, Vice President of Federcaccia Pistoia and manager of Federcaccia Toscana, who allegedly presented the appeal to the Regional Administrative Court on his own initiative. As previously done, we invite the Region to apply that consultation with the Hunting Associations which has been lacking in recent years. Hunters have ideas and experience which, if used well, can help find solutions ".
