Arci Caccia: Grosseto, the project “Knowing the fauna of our countryside” continues, involving children and hunters to discover the woods and fauna of our country.
"Knowing the fauna of our countryside", the environmental education project promoted by Arci Caccia to lead the little ones to "discover" the faunal richness of the area and the various animal species that populate it, goes on successfully in the schools of the area. such as hares, pheasants, roe deer, wild boars. The initiative has reached its sixth year thanks to the fruitful collaboration between the association and the schools (elementary and middle school), in particular with the elementary schools of the comprehensive “Pascoli” Institute of Gavorrano-Scarlino who have always actively participated. Pupils are involved in a path that includes a series of lessons in the classroom held by the wildlife experts of the Regional Committee of the Tuscan Arci Caccia, during which the characteristics of the typical animals of the area are illustrated, and exits in the countryside to visit the wildlife structures. of the territory aimed at the protection and increase of some species.
A day in contact with nature and that last Tuesday saw the children of the elementary schools of Bagno, classes 4A and 4B, who, accompanied by teachers Livia Cretì and Renata Pierini, spent a morning outdoors in the countryside of Il Poderino. , towards the Filare di Bagno. Guided by expert hunters and armed with cameras and notepads, they walked intrigued through the woods to "touch" nature and closely observe how the pheasant lives inside the repopulation area thanks to the commitment of the many volunteers who actively manage the species.
"One of the winning elements of the initiative - explained Claudio Sozzi, president of the Arci Caccia-Federation of the Province of Grosseto, present together with the manager of Arci Caccia of Gavorrano Piero Bettaccini and Enzo Mori, president of ATC 6 - is to make known, also direct as in these outings in the countryside, the pupils of the great environmental and faunal heritage of the territory which, on the other hand, is too often not known and therefore is not duly appreciated and valued. In this way children can understand the real extent of this wealth and the work we do to preserve and increase it ”.
“This path - added Piero Bettaccini - also serves to give a different vision of the hunter, who is not a“ destroyer ”of nature, but one who cares about it. Thanks to the commitment of many volunteers who manage fauna and wildlife structures, we work with respect for the environment and for the balance of animal species ". “Knowing the fauna of our countryside” is a project that involves over 120 pupils from local schools every year: so far 800 children have participated, together with the dozens of teachers involved.
