The chapter opened by the committee closes with a sensational debacle "Let's Abolish Hunting" with his request for a referendum. There Court of Cassation confirmed, in its order issued on 15 December 2021, the more than insufficient number of signatures collected, and even less than those valid to give rise to the referendum: out of 256.274 signatures deposited, the subscriptions on paper and digital support deemed valid amount to 119.160. A number much lower, therefore, than the 500.000 valid ones useful for starting the procedure for the implementation of the referendum, but also the 520.000 repeatedly declared by the organizing committee, a circumstance well highlighted by the briefs presented to the Court by the hunting associations gathered in the control room, and which the Supreme Court itself considered worthy of note to underline in its ordinance.
So much ado about nothing then, the one made by the promoting committee, which gave rise to one lukewarm response from the Italian population, which has shown on this occasion that she fully understands that one does not play with nature and that wildlife management, with all its implications, is an issue to be dealt with seriously and rationally.
The undersigned recognized hunting associations and the CNCN therefore express their full satisfaction with this result and will continue to support the positive role that hunting, through associations, ATCs, CAs, private institutes and hunters themselves, carries out to protect the territory, local communities and the balance of nature and with a significant contribution to the country's economy, through countless initiatives throughout the national territory.
It also reminds us that hunting constitutes, first of all for farmers and public administrations, a fundamental and absolutely irreplaceable barrier to prevent damage to crops, infrastructures and contributes to the control of invasive species, which represent a threat to biodiversity. , habitats and citizens themselves.
The hunting world, having as its first objective that linked to the protection of the territory and biodiversity, takes this opportunity to reiterate the openness of its associations to constructive dialogue with all the institutional realities and the environmental and agricultural associations and all the stakeholders interested in various capacities in thinking about shared solutions regarding sustainable hunting wildlife management.
