THETerritorial Area of Latin Hunting 2 announced the favorable opinion of theISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research) regarding the plan five-year control of corvids. This is a hunting levy that will start in 2018 and will end in 2022. The request from the Lazio ATC was sent last October 31 and now this positive disposition has arrived.
However, it is not the first time that the Sector has faced such a problem. In fact, last year there was already a request for prevention of damage caused by wildlife to agricultural crops. On that occasion, ATC Latina 2 asked for authorization to use cages and traps for magpies and gray crows.
Furthermore, a few years ago, the Province of Latina decided to change the approach as regards the management of the problem of these damages, in order to protect in the best possible way the farmers in the area. The new approach was necessary to rationalize public spending and make the work of preventing damage caused by the corvids themselves more streamlined and effective, but also from otters, starlings and wild boars.
