Forty-four shotgun harbor licenses were revoked by the State Police in Niscemi, in the province of Caltanissetta, from as many people who had been reported for fraud against the State and forgery in public deed because they would have falsified the postal payment slips of the government concession and compulsory insurance taxes required for hunting. The policemen carried out cross-checks on the postal current account slips presented in the town hall to obtain the release of the hunting card, which were clearly false. The investigators had been on high alert for some time "because - says Commissioner Gabriele Presti - after having discovered hundreds of false insurance marks on vehicles in Niscemi, we were sure that we would have found fake documents even in the files concerning the imminent opening of the hunting season" .
