The mythical Colt pistol becomes Czech. The arms manufacturer Ceska Zbrojovka has in fact announced that it has acquired a 100% stake in the American group and its Canadian branch for 220 million dollars (180 million euro) through the issue of 1.098.620 Czg ordinary shares, as explained in a press release from the company. "We are proud to include Colt and its 175-year history in our portfolio," said the president of Board of Directors of the Czech group Lubomir Kovarik.
Group CEO Dennis Veilleux called the transaction "a powerful alliance for two brands for our customers". Czg, a group with 1650 employees in the Czech Republic, the USA and Germany, supplies weapons to the police and the army, but also boasts a Cz classified sports range. Colt, founded in 1836 by Samuel Colt, supplies weapons to the US and Canadian military.
Designed by John Browning, the Colt was the service pistol of the United States Armed Forces from 1911 to 1985. It was also widely used in the first and second world wars, in Korea and in Vietnam. In total, 1911 1911 1 units were produced in the M2 and M700A000 versions (Agi).
