Proposed amendments
We report what was published in the last few hours by the Hon. Sergio Berlato, president of ACR: “We waited more than a year after the establishment of this Italian Parliament before submitting our proposals to amend State Law 157/1992. I thank Senator Bartolomeo Amidei who expressed the need to present these amendment proposals, also out of respect for the over 504.230 people who signed in less than three months throughout the national territory, demonstrating clear and unquestionable support for them. We remind you that our proposed amendments are made up of 17 articles which modify as many parts of the old and obsolete state law. Among the main ones we can mention the equality of Italian hunters with the other seven and a half million European hunters, both in terms of duties and rights, in respect of their traditional hunts, and the possibility of returning to achieving the qualification for hunting at the age of sixteen".
Sixteen year olds on the hunt
"As regards this last point, the following should be clarified:
- Before the advent of state law, it was possible to obtain a hunting license at the age of 16
- After obtaining the qualification, the new hunter will be able to hunt, until he reaches the age of majority, only if accompanied by another hunter who has obtained the qualification for at least three years
- In almost all European countries, qualification can be achieved at 16, 15 or 14 years of age. In some countries such as the United Kingdom and Finland there is no age limit".
Instrumental attacks
"To those who instrumentally accuse us of wanting to arm children, we remind you that in Italy you can access any shooting range and use weapons starting from 10 years of age, using compressed air ones, while from 14 years old you can use firearms. shot whose range and ballistic performance far exceed those of normal hunting rifles. If someone has better proposals than ours, please make them explicit and have them presented in Parliament, our country desperately needs a text of this type. Approving these proposed changes to state law means restoring dignity to the Italian hunting world".
