Statistics and comparisons
The planned wild boar hunt in the territory of Cuneo Alpine District 1 recorded record numbers. The sampling began last September 17th and ended with 855 specimens killed. The number becomes even more significant when compared with the figure from a year earlier, when the killings stopped at 502.
The importance of containment
The Piedmontese district itself announced the news as follows: “Hunters have well understood the importance of containing this wild animal and have taken on a strong responsibility towards this species which, as is well known, is creating considerable problems in particular in the agricultural sector, both in terms of damage to crops and to pastures, and for everything concerning the worrying African swine fever".
Wild boar hunting
The note continues: “Wild boar hunting has so far been practiced with the presence of leaves on the trees, which severely limit the view and in the total absence of snow, which on the one hand pushes the animals downstream and on the other makes them easier to kill.".
