Three days ago, Friday 29 January 2016, the award ceremony of the second literary competition took place "Hunt, Passion and Memories", an initiative created by the provincial section of Florence of the Federcaccia. It was the winner Annalisa Santi, originally from Verona and author of the short story "The Cheetah Hunter". The setting was that of the Protected Aromatic Zone (ZAP) of Florence, with more than eighty people attending: the works examined were 32 and the participants in the ceremony received a certificate and a copy of the book that collects all the works received. Simone Tofani, number one of Federcaccia Firenze, explained the reasons that convinced the organizers to repeat the positive experience of last year. According to Tofani, the proposal of the Culture Commission it has been corroborated by the desire to export tradition, hunting knowledge and culture also outside the category clubs, in order to broaden their knowledge and increase admirers.
In practice, the goal was to involve non-hunters as much as possible: for the federation, the large number of stories received is the signal that the path taken is the right one. Annalisa Santi's first place was only one of those awarded by the jury: in fact, there was no shortage of special prizes awarded to Nicholas Head of Biella, who presented the story “A perfect day”, ea Christian Borri of Tavarnelle Val di Pesa (province of Florence) for his work "The Last Hare".
The vast majority of the stories were written by men (28 to be precise): the authors came practically from all over Italy, from North to South (including Sardinia) and the jury appreciated every single work, drawing up the final ranking not without difficulty. Mark Romagnoli, secretary of the Confederation of Tuscan Hunters, was present at the award ceremony and wished to thank the authors: as he pointed out, the stories gave real emotions and not only to the hunters. there was no shortage of words of appreciation for hunting and its strategic role in the balance of wildlife.
The participants in the second edition of this literary competition received a diploma and posed for the usual photos. The conclusion of the day was entrusted to Tofani himself: in the volume that collects all the works there are not two short stories out of competition due to the will of the authors to remain anonymous. The appointment for the third edition of “Caccia, Passione e Ricordi” has already been set and there is the certainty of repeating the success of the first two.
