With the order made yesterday by Court of Rome, the well-known animal rights leader Paul Mocavero was sentenced to pay damages for the injurious and injurious statements made by him to the hunters during the radio broadcast "La Zanzara" broadcast by Radio 24 in March 2020. The presidents of Hunting Federation Massimo Buconi, of Enalhunt Lamberto Cardia and of ANUUMigrators Marco Castellani, sponsored by the lawyer Alberto M. Bruni. The ordinance is very complex and, while recognizing the right to information and criticism (even with colorful tones), it nevertheless affirms that verbal aggressions can never be tolerated, which turn into real attacks that go beyond the controversial topic and take the form of foul language against individual citizens or categories such as hunters, whose moral profile is protected by the Hunting Associations.
The order of the Civil Court of Rome assumes great importance because - finally - it comes to recognize the protection of dignity of those who legitimately exercise the hunting activity and, together, of the Hunting Associations that work in every location in this sense. In addition to this it also assumes the value of a real warning to all those who they denigrate hunters by going beyond the limits of correct information and the right to criticize, allowing verbal aggression accompanied by offenses and vulgarity not to be allowed.
And this also applies to the heads of newspapers and television and radio broadcasts which host the most ardent denigrators of hunting who are allowed - without contradicting others - aberrant and damaging utterances. Strengthened by this precedent, from now on, the Hunting Associations will be able to take legal action to protect the image of its members whenever - and unfortunately it happens more and more often - hunting and those who practice it are made the subject of offensive comments (Joint Press Release FIdC - Enalcaccia - ANUUMigrators).
