La Regional Federcaccia of Friuli Venezia Giulia raised a major alarm after adistemper epidemic between volpi. The pathology is infectious and affects the animal's nervous system: in this case, the reports concern the area included between Udine, Gorizia and Trieste, but there have also been some on Slovenian territory. For this reason the owners of the hunting dogs must pay close attention.
In these first four months of 2018 theExperimental Zooprophylactic Institute recorded 39 cases, to be precise almost half of the foxes analyzed. The disease can also be fatal, which is why it should not be underestimated in any way. The dangers concern dogs, but also cats, badgers and weasels. The most effective and safest remedy is undoubtedly the vaccine: distemper is contracted through the respiratory system, while episodes of infection via organic material.
The basic dose for a hunting dog that has never been vaccinated traditionally puts him on the safe side, not forgetting the booster after twenty days. For the man, on the other hand, there are no problems, even if the infected dog he owns may become overly nervous.
