La Marche region puts in place two measures: the first (DGR 79) aimed at containing the new control plan of the pigeon (Columba Livia domestica) and the second concerning the hunting calendar 2021/2022 for thetraining of dogs for the months of February and March 2022. The day marked a change of course for the Region with respect to the Pigeon Control Plan approved with DGR n. 1598 of 27 November 2018, in favor of a management that starts from the actions tested for the containment of wild boar (DGR n.1469 of 8 November 2018). This measure actually authorizes the owners or tenants of land in which damage to agricultural production caused by pigeons, to perform interventions directly on the land they own.
This change has proved necessary views the ineffectiveness of previous measures which showed intervention times such as not to counteract the worsening of the impact on agricultural production. The action of numerical reduction by shooting down has also shown a limited effect to a short time span, sometimes of a few hours, whereby the pigeons return to the same crop after a short time. As regards the DGR 80, the Marche Region approves the calendar for the training of dogs for the months of February and March 2022, which provides for outputs on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
The regional council confirms the areas of the past hunting season, with the exception of the area called “Donico” falling within the Municipality of Cagli, and the Territory of the AR called “Monteguiduccio”, falling within the municipality of Montefelcino. All the locations are divided by provincial territory and the training activity can take place from sunrise to sunset. With reference to the prescriptions contained in the current Regional Wildlife Hunting Plan, the areas in which it will be possible to carry out the planned activity have been identified; the list will be available at all ATC of relevance and will be made available to anyone who needs them.
The Vice President of the Marche region with responsibility for hunting and fishing in inland waters Mirco Carloni says he is satisfied with having completed "a path that is anything but taken for granted that goes in the direction of an integrated management of critical issues, especially for the many measures relating to both the hunting and agricultural worlds". The two DGRs are already visible on the Region's website in order to be consulted by anyone who wants to use them
