THEENCI (Italian National Dog Association) spread a message about the current one coronavirus health emergency. Here is what President Dino Muto wrote: “Unfortunately I have little time to devote to social media or perhaps, more simply, I am not very attracted to it. Numerous friends, whom I thank, report to me in these hours controversy with constant references to "true dog lovers". The one away from politics, close to dog lovers, the one that concerns the authentic "zootechnical selection".
Ironic jokes "in the face of the coronavirus", incitements to do, because, so much "everything flows normally". Well no, I believe that the events of these days are not entirely normal. It's not all right and at least in this one collective unrest, that you try to have respect, because lessons in style, transparency, fairness and, above all, "true dog lovers", I personally do not accept them from anyone. In our country it exists a silent army of true enthusiasts, starting with those who, like me and many others, dedicate time and cultivate the sincere hope of a dog lover that can be increasingly at the service of breeders and the needs of those who buy a purebred dog.
An army alongside ENCI that shares, every moment, every day, the many decisions and the bitterness of the instrumental distinctions, which we see also in these moments. The seriousness of a country can be seen in moments of crisis and, beyond political convictions, I think that no one can deny that the protocols and health care measures adopted are a compromise of responsibility and consistency. Furthermore, I think that ENCI, one of the most advanced canine organizations, should not take lessons from anyone and will soon take ad hoc measures in order to meet the breeders and owners of the dogs registered in the Herd Book forced to delay due to the forced closure of some delegations or forced to give up the zootechnical checks useful for the selection of their dogs.
We can and will have to do many things together. Because true dog lovers are made with transparency, with adherence to specific codes of conduct and with the ability to work as a team, even if this involves temporarily giving up something. Even at an exhibition or a rehearsal. Even if you have long prepared your dog for that precise moment. We therefore make an effort of respect, to leave a distinctive mark, which is not a mockery on a social network, but a precise conduct in support of our body and our organizing committees. And I, today, on behalf of the Executive Council of the ENCI, I declare to have respect above all for those who did not make it and for their loved ones.
And then, for those who are not well, for those in hospital and for those in quarantine. But also for those in decision-making roles. And for all of our organizing committees and our managers, that they move in unexpected, difficult and responsible terrain. And if there is still someone who feels like giggling and mocking, who offers us the complete show, toasting in the face of us poor fools, even if we really don't feel like that. Instead, we feel the responsibility to give serious and coherent answers in a moment of great difficulty of our country ".
