Last day of hunting yesterday in province of Siena, where betweenAtc 3 andAtc 8 15 thousand shotguns were mobilized. The ordinances issued by the Region made it possible to practice hunting even when Tuscany was orange zone: this made it possible to limit the damage to wine and cereal crops. “Here we make stratospheric numbers - he explains Robert Vivarelli, coordinator of the Tuscan ATC and president of the ATC Siena Nord - because Tuscany is the first region in Europe in terms of wildlife intensity. Until December we recorded a decline in culling, also because we were stopped for a month with the region in red zone.
In January we intensified the activity, recovering in a great way ”. There are 75 teams of hunters operating on the provincial territory (54 in Atc 3 and 21 in Atc 8): "About 4 thousand shotguns are dedicated to killing wild boars - highlights Vivarelli -, but we can say that there is a renewed passion also for hare. Woodcock hunting is very popular, while we encounter some difficulties in pheasant hunting despite the recent additions of specimens, because carnivorous humus is absent ". Vivarelli continues: "Wood pigeon hunting is resuming, while for the killing of wild boars it can be said that 85% is done by the teams that are the real focus of this type of activity".
As for selection hunting, last year alone 500 fallow deer, 2 thousand roe deer and 200 deer were killed: "It is proof that it is bearing good results", comments the coordinator of the Tuscan ATC. Now all that remains is to wait for spring, when the hunting season will reopen, but all eyes are on the Region: "A new regional wildlife-hunting plan needs to be developed, because the proxies are no longer of the Provinces - Vivarelli announces - and the provincial plans have expired. The Regional Plan will regulate all forms of hunting in Toscana, that is, both the planned one and the one in the wildlife-hunting farms, finally homologating the rules "(The nation).
