Together for the natural resource management, to collaborate in ecological initiatives, to monitor the territory, to protect the agrarian landscape. This is what the protocol signed this morning, in the provincial headquarters of Coldiretti Verona, by Daniele Salvagno, president of Coldiretti Verona and Alessandro Salvelli, provincial president of Federcaccia. The director of Coldiretti Verona Giuseppe Ruffini was also present at the signing of the agreement. The agreement represents an important understanding between two Associations committed to finding solutions that unite farmers and hunters in a sustainable relationship with the environment.
In the Verona area there are about 6800 hunters of which 3000 are enrolled in Federcaccia. There are many factors of common interest such as wildlife monitoring, respect for agronomic practices, the prevention of poaching, fires, in a perspective of reciprocity for the role of sentinels covered by both professional figures. The relationship between hunting and agriculture, specifies the memorandum of understanding, refers to a single area: the management of the rural territory, with the consequent benefits for hunting and agriculture, also in relation to the theme of environmental protection by safeguarding biodiversity through the reconstitution of habitats, the protection of the territory and of the crops themselves, with undeniable general advantages to the agricultural, forest, hydrogeological and fauna landscape.
"The signing of this protocol is particularly important - comments Daniele Salvagno - as, effectively, the foundations are laid, also at the provincial level, for an activity that will certainly continue over time, for the protection of the territory and farms from wildlife and large predators. Wildlife causes substantial damage in the plains as well as in the mountains where the main risk is runoff and the landslide of steep pastures. In the long run, this phenomenon involves very serious hydrogeological damage even downstream with sudden floods and other phenomena that are harmful to the settlements, as well as to the environment.
The balance of the number of wild in the mountains is therefore fundamental for the safeguard of the mountain system itself and of the whole territory. The work of the hunters therefore joins that of the breeders in the maintenance and enhancement of the mountain territory and in general in safeguarding the environment ". In the program of actions envisaged, with a view to developing knowledge, of training and public education, includes the development of initiatives of a sociological, historical, cultural, informative and legislative nature. Satisfied the president of the provincial section of Federcaccia Verona, Alessandro Salvelli, who, in a gesture of collaboration, handed the association flag to president Salvagno, concluding: "we intend to follow up, with Coldiretti Verona, to protocol already signed at the regional level.
With this initiative we want to seriously and effectively address the problem of harmful species, through concrete and decisive solutions. We will be able to organize and participate in local meetings and all the initiatives that will be put in place as a result of the subscription. Our voluntary supervisory body will be increasingly attentive to the correct use of agricultural areas by hunters". Coldiretti Verona, through the training institution Impresa Verde Verona Srl, has started a training course for hunters with indications on safety in hunting. In May, the distance training was followed by 40 hunters and other courses are planned.
