Migratory Pass. A month of September among the hottest of the last forty years, with only two days of modest rain (15 and 16) and four with overcast skies. In this meteorological context, the ringings at the FEIN Ornithological Observatory in Arosio reached the considerable figure of 2.029.
Blackcap, Thrush and Pettirosso have made it as masters, accompanied by Beccafico, Common Redstart and again, in the last days of the month, by the Black Balia. It should be noted that the thrushes had their maximum transit peak on the day of the 28th, with a progressive increase during the last quarter of the moon, thus respecting the traditional date of St. Michael, considered by all to be the classic date of the " little fury ".
The weather change on Saturday 1 October dampened expectations, even if in the skies of central Europe and in those further north of the western Palaearctic there was only a momentary passage of modest rain clouds.
Together with the Thrushes, the Blackcaps passed in a more than satisfactory way on days 25 and 26, reminding the technicians of the Arosiana station of the copious passage of 2014. The Robins were not far behind, recording excellent catches on days 23 and 29.
The trans-Saharans were still noticed in a satisfactory way and there was an increase in the presence of the small Luì. Finally, from the various Observatories scattered throughout the territory, news of a good presence of the Teal and some sporadic presence of Snipe in the places congenial to them have arrived.
