There are several critical issues: the Institute believes that the hunt for sedentary and turdidae should be opened on 2 October; requires the adoption of the "frost protocol" for woodcock; believes that hunting in Cesena and sassello should not exceed 20 January; believes that all passerines (and therefore all turdids) should not be huntable with snow (not even in the alps area and not only from a fixed posting); believes that all ducks should not be hunted beyond 20 January; finally believes that major restrictions should be introduced on roaming lowland hunting in January. Then indications are given for the suspension of the sampling of the species tufted duck, lapwing, pochard, fighter, dove. As usual of technical and scientific in the opinion there is very little: arguing that in the last 10 days of September the bottacci have not yet started the migration and that those born in 2021 are still in the phase of dependence on adults is without foundation.
Likewise, requesting the closure of all aquatic establishments on January 20 is based solely on the “Disturbance” potentially caused by hunting non-huntable species, or worse by the feared risk of "confusion" between huntable and non-huntable species (which is very difficult for a hunter, perhaps possible for desk researchers). Not to mention the suspension of the withdrawal of Cesena and Sassello in case of snow for the suffering that climatic conditions would cause to these species. But that the ISPRA opinion is written with the feet and without considering the specificities of Lombardy is clear when you read the withdrawal periods for roe deer! According to ISPRA in the alps area we could hunt females and young (less than one year old) in the period 1 January-15 March, or in the period of maximum stress and food suffering due to the persistent snow cover, while on the Prealps, in the plains and on the Apennines we could hunt them only in the period 15 September-15 December.
In the rest of Italy the opposite happens. Not to mention that as far as the male roe deer is concerned, it seems that ISPRA has taken ... a crab… As Federcaccia we have been sending information to the Region on these issues for years to depart from them: it is in fact opinions that have been sent to other regions for years (all the same), and we understand that the Region is working to refute the unjustified requests. Finally, we remind you that this year the calendar has been subjected to an Incidence Study and the Incidence Assessment is underway: these are inevitable procedures so that hunting is not precluded in the SIC and in ZPS. Federcaccia is monitoring the entire process and will send all available data and findings useful to refute the opinion of ISPRA, which is simply unacceptable in many parts (Source: Federcaccia Lombardy).
