Federcaccia: the Migratory Birdlife Office provides some clarifications on the Martina Franca conference regarding Sorrenti's intervention.
Following some misunderstandings following the press release relating to the Martina Franca conference, the content of the intervention by the Scientific Responsible Dr. Michele Sorrenti is specified: The FIDC position on hunting calendars, fully shared by FACEITALIA is that the Regions can deviate from the ISPRA opinion by using supporting regional data, deviating from the national Key Concept, and it is precisely for this reason that FIDC has promoted and is currently in progress several scientific studies, in particular on song thrush, which have already made it possible to conclude the hunting season on 31 January in some Italian regions.
The overlap decade is obviously applicable in all regions on all species. As for the results of the studies on the song thrush, which reached three years in Puglia and two years in Calabria, Lazio and Umbria, the preliminary data agree in the demonstration that the prenuptial migration of the species begins in February, during the second decade.
