Arci Caccia and Coldiretti, during the 10th national congress in Chianciano Terme, (SI) discussed the theme "Solving the problem of damage caused by wild animals".
The problem of the supernumerary of wild animals and the damage caused to farms was at the center of the debate at the XNUMXth Arci Caccia National Congress, held in Chianciano Terme (Siena). The Hunters' Association underlined how "a new phase must be opened that sees the construction of a renewed pact with the agricultural world that provides additional resources for those companies that operate directly in wildlife management and that invest in environmental redevelopment projects".
Coldiretti agreed that the issue of damage from wildlife is a priority for the agricultural sector and underlined how unfortunately attempts to solve the problem have failed so far through a revision of the law on hunting, paradoxically hampered by some hunting associations that clinging to more radical positions asked, during the process of discussion of the law, for a modification of the list of huntable species incompatible with the indications of Ispra and this did not allow to continue a confrontation at the parliamentary level on the reform of law 157/1991 to be many relied on.
Coldiretti also underlined how the measures currently in force are now totally insufficient to solve the emergency of the damage caused by wild boars and this phenomenon constitutes an emergency in rural areas that cannot be underestimated anymore. It is therefore hoped for the reopening of a comparison between hunting associations, environmentalists, professional agricultural organizations with the institutions to identify a regulatory path even independently of the reform of law 157/1991 that can solve this age-old problem.
It is clear that a resumption of dialogue can take place on condition that all the interested parties share a sustainable hunting model that respects biodiversity, Community legislation and the indications of Ispra, a prerequisite without which it is not possible to open any discussion table. the failure of the previous experience of the National Hunting Table set up by the Regions with the sector associations which, stranded on the issue of hunting calendars, did not allow for a discussion that would lead to resolving the issue of damage from wildlife.
Osvaldo Veneziano, who was confirmed as national president of the Arci Caccia, declared that “The hunt has awakened; from the congress comes a strong and renewed push for the change of hunting policies. A reversal of course is needed to relaunch the entire sector and to face the challenges of the future, in an overall perspective that in any case sees hunting combined with the criteria of sustainability, compatibility with scientific indications, integration with Community regulations and with the different instances of society ".
According to the national President, these indications will have to materialize in a bill to be submitted to the attention of the new government and the new Parliament: “a new management of hunting activities starting from the strengthening of the Atc; financing and incisive interventions to give concrete answers to the problem of compensation for damage caused to farms by wild animals; the definition of a new general tax system which provides above all a correct remodeling of the taxes connected with hunting, in order to allocate resources for the management of the hunting activity directly in the territories ".
