Federcaccia Toscana criticizes the environmental associations opposed to the appointment of the Mayor of Stia, Luca Santini, as president of the Casentino Park, "guilty" of having led the URCA.
The Parco delle Foreste Casentinesi is twenty years old, but having abundantly reached the age of majority does not seem to exempt it from the uncertainties and difficulties that have characterized its history: a commissioner that lasted for a long time, then years without a director and, now, the raising of shields from part of the environmentalist world for the hypothesis of appointing as president Luca Santini, a man of the institutions, elected mayor with an extraordinary consensus (70,4%) at the helm of his municipality, Stia in Arezzo.
Santini would be "guilty", according to these "environmentalists", of having led an association, the URCA (Regional Union of Hunters of the Apennines), which has made management and responsible hunting its raison d'etre.
The bewilderment of the person concerned is understandable: "That carrying out a completely legal hunting activity - commented Santini - can become a discriminating factor and a so serious flaw that it is not possible to access a public office within a protected area I leave to judge to others, it seems to me so much an absurdity and a stretch ”. Santini expressed satisfaction with the designation but also worried about the hypothesis of a new commissioner should the protests be provided and he relaunched the program and the things to do, with the proposal of a revitalization plan that "involves everyone, administrators and citizens, within a real policy for the environment ”.
The sleep of reason, as we know, generates monsters and so it may happen that some fringes of "environmentalists", blinded by ideological prejudice, regardless of programs, curricula and personal credibility of the candidates, put the usual workshop interests before a serious comparison on the Things to do.
Santini has a lot to do in remembering the years at the helm of the Urca as an experience marked by studies conducted with prestigious personalities from the academic world, proposals and initiatives for a healthy and balanced management of the territory, of the whole territory and beyond. of protected areas: there is no worse deaf than those who do not want to hear, preferring to hide behind the forbidden clichés of the hunter = marauder.
"The hope - Federcaccia Toscana sends to say - is that this appointment will be subtracted from corporate logic and the irrational protests of recent days and that indeed this is an opportunity to reconsider the lines that have hitherto presided over a" not always brilliant "Management of protected areas".
