The City of Molar, in the province of Alessandria, is taking note of the daily presence of wolves in this area of Piedmont. Sightings are on the rise and there is no shortage of mauled dogs. For this reason it was decided to start the next January scientific monitoring of the species, both in this municipal area and in other areas of the province.
The goal is to quantify exactly any herds, then it will be possible to open a discussion with local authorities for subsequent management. As pointed out by Dino Bianchi, president of the Andrea De Giovanni Park, the collaboration of the hunters will be useful, since they will be able to collect useful material for the main exams. A selection plan, also because the surveys have stopped six years ago: the proliferation is almost certain due to the abundance of roe deer.
This openness to the hunting world, however, did not please Regional Federcaccia of Piedmont. The association wondered what all the millions of euros spent in recent years have been used for. The impression is that the extent of the problem has been realized too late and that an attempt will be made to transform it into one opportunity only for some subjects.
