It is not certain that the protection of environmental values always puts everyone in agreement, especially if on the one hand there is the municipal administration and on the other the association of hunters, obviously with diametrically opposite positions. So, at least, this is what it would seem about the closure of the dirt road that from Serrada leads to Finonchio closed, on the basis of the ordinance of the Municipality of Folgaria (Trento), to the transit of vehicles from mid-June to the end of September from 9 am to 18 pm. Cimbri highlands, taken to limit the use of cars, facilitate the transit of hikers in safety, and defend the environmental balance, reducing gas emissions into the atmosphere.
However, in fact, the administrative measure prevents the regular running of the hunting season, which is close to its opening scheduled for Sunday 5th September. In fact, the passage with a vehicle is essential for those who have to transport an ungulate, whose weight can exceed two and a half quintals, or tools for the maintenance of the undergrowth, to which hunters often dedicate part of the hunting day. At the same time, it is no mystery that a large section of public opinion does not look favorably on hunting. But the problem is not that of allowing or not the hunting activity, which is legal and regulated. So much so that it should be remembered that the activity is established scrupulously by the Province.
«Not only that, - observes Federico Bonazza, rector of the Rovereto reserve which represents more than fifty hunters - preserving the balance of nature also means keeping the population of deer and chamois within acceptable limits. The hunting activity means nothing more than taking a part of theannual increase of the heads to keep agriculture and the ecosystem in general that is part of Mount Finonchio in balance. Among other things, even a high number of specimens can directly or indirectly cause accidents. It is a not uncommon experience in the section of the state road between Lizzana and Marco, run into ungulates in the evening that suddenly swoop onto the roadway. When they come out of the darkness they can represent danger. Last year alone there were about twenty investments ».
Despite the urgent need for a solution, the affair, raised by the vice president of the Noriglio constituency Renato Ruele and by the councilor Andrea Bertotti, has been dragging on for several weeks now. "We have urged - explain the two Norwegian exponents - the attention of the administration. But despite some meetings, no conclusion was reached. The ordinance was adopted for several paths. It is a practice that the summer is put into effect. But this time there were no exceptions either for hunters or for Noriglio residents who wanted to use the car ».
«In fact I had - concludes Stefano Spagnolli, president of the district - several reports from hunters who complained about the difficulty of preparing materials for hunting. The exceptions to the passage were granted only to the owners and tenants of the Finonchio funds. Opening the passage to everyone is not possible. But we must admit that the hunters also guarantee the maintenance of the paths "(The Adige).
