Fox Hunt: Siena, in the Provincial Council tomorrow, Tuesday 16 April, a motion by Lorenzo Rosso (Brothers of Italy) will be discussed and voted against the continuation of the hunting of fox cubs.
In the motion Rosso stated that “the Province had planned the opening to the hunting and extermination of the puppies of fox directly into the den, scheduled from 31 April to XNUMX July of this year and that following protests by environmental associations, ordinary citizens and the writer and proponent of the motion in question, the Councilor for hunting Anna Betti has decided to to postpone this hunting practice by one month, starting it from the next first day of May ".
The act goes on to underline that "in the face of this" moratorium "of only thirty days, the protests - even at a regional and national level, as well as local ones - have not subsided but have increasingly increased and that our territory, already severely affected by the general crisis and by the events of Banca Monte dei Paschi that have strongly undermined its image, he is further struck in the image itself by this practice, rightly defined "barbaric", as it turns out to be the tracing and extermination and suppression of small fox cubs in their dens ".
Rosso's motion continues that "Councilor Betti, in the face of many criticisms and thousands of emails sent to the e-mails of the Province of Siena against the hunting of fox cubs in the den, limited himself to saying that" Improperly it is said hunting, but it is called burrow containment, we are talking about tools useful for biodiversity ", making, with these statements, if possible, sharpen the tone of the controversy and opposition to this practice".
The motion ends with the request "that the Provincial Council of Siena commit the council to completely and forever cancel the barbaric activity of hunting fox cubs in burrows in the entire territory of the Province of Siena and to publicize the cancellation in the widest possible ways, with press releases and statements in newspapers, televisions, radio, social networks, also using the press office structures set up for this purpose. Some representatives of Sienese environmental associations will also be present at the session, which is public ”.
