After the forced break of recent months, from Sunday 7nd June the RDP Center Marshes of Fucecchio it also restarts with activities aimed at the public: the openings of the Visitor Center of the Nature Reserve, in Castelmartini, and guided tours of the area. The exhibitions set up in the Visitor Center and the excursions in the area become more than ever a fundamental resource to allow all those concerned, after having remained at home for a long time, to gradually and consciously regain contact with nature. The center, in the name of maximum protection of public health and safety for operators and users, will fully follow the guidelines of the Tuscany Region for the reopening of museums, parks and other places of culture and the guidelines for guided tours.
A few simple precautions will allow a serene visit: measuring the temperature at the entrance, maintaining interpersonal distance, using a mask, sanitizing gel and disposable gloves (at the bookshop). In June the Visitor Center will remain open on Sundays from 9-12 and 15,30-18,30, without reservation; the spaces are very large, and only in the case of a particular influx of public will an entrance to contingent groups be foreseen. The Visitor Center hosts a permanent exhibition on historical and naturalistic aspects e on the local traditions of the Fucecchio Marshes, in addition to the preparatory works of the Monument by the sculptor Gino Terreni in memory of the fallen of the massacre of 23 August 1944.
In this period it is also possible to see the temporary exhibitions “Illusioni nel caneeto. A collection of hunting and ornamental molds ”and“ Natura in Valdinievole, and that of naturalistic drawing and sculpture by the wildlife painter Alessandro Sacchetti. Guided tours start on 7 June (8,30 am) from a walk on the nature trail of Le Morette with bird watching in the protected area; then two evening-night visits to the Padule, one on the Monsummano Hill and one in the “Switzerland of Pescia”.
