Hunters and animal rights activists: absurd radio clash between Veneziano di Arci Caccia and Tozzi on the program “A Special Day” on Radio Radio.
An absurd and violent exchange of views on hunting took place at the radio show “A Special Day” broadcast on Radio Radio; it all started with Mario Tozzi's deplorable affirmation, “Hunters are poor people. I hope they die out as soon as possible by exterminating each other. I wish you to receive a bullet in the forehead as happens to the animals you usually kill ”. A statement that leaves no room for too many misunderstandings that of Mario Tozzi, addressed to the president of the Arci Caccia, Osvaldo Veneziano. As can be easily deduced, the morning of “A Special Day” on Radio Radio turned out to be very “electric”. The discussion between Tozzi and Veneziano broke out following the comment on a photo that is circulating in these hours, which portrays a fox killed with the technique of hunting in the den.
“This practice - said Tozzi - is truly macabre: hunters introduce a dog into the fox's den. He first exterminates the cubs, then waits for the fox to come out to kill it too. Unfortunately, those who behave in this way are people with serious inner problems ”. After these statements, Osvaldo Veneziano intervened in the broadcast, who initially found himself in harmony with Tozzi in condemning the practice of hawk hunting widespread in Messina, where some people even shoot from the window. But after this initial uniformity of views, the two were divided over everything, starting an exchange of piqued jokes.
When Veneziano said that during the woodcock hunt a special relationship is established between dog and hunter Tozzi asserted: “So you love animals? How can you sustain such a thing when you kill them mercilessly? ”. The president of Arci Caccia replied: "Even for wedding banquets animals are killed and yet no one has anything to complain about". “I am a vegetarian - replied Tozzi - but I understand those who eat meat out of necessity. You hunters, on the other hand, kill animals solely for fun. I personally despise people who act in this way ”. Veneziano countered by explaining his reasons: “We know what is right and what is not. For example, I opposed hawk hunting and spring hunting but I have nothing against fox hunting because it is legitimized by science, which states that it is the least bloody method ".
“Let's show people - said Mario Tozzi - the photos that are circulating in these hours of the barbarously killed fox and see what the Italians think. I also ask myself: why has the province of Siena abolished fox hunting when in your opinion there would be no contraindications? ". "They did it out of ideology - replied the president of Arci Caccia - and in any case I must note that you have an urban attitude, while in the countryside there is another sensitivity". “This is a nonsense - said Tozzi - I have been president of a national park and I know well the approach to the subject that one has in extra-urban contexts. The truth is that hunters are a minority, which I hope will soon die out. The Italians also expressed themselves in this sense with the referendum, which however did not reach the quorum ”.
"Then you are not the majority - said Veneziano - and in any case I would like to point out that in Italy and in Europe environmentalists and hunters get along well and do not have the attitude that you are showing at the moment". The controversy continued indefinitely, with Tozzi countering: “Since hunting has not been abolished, it is normal that agreements and compromises can be found between environmental and animal rights associations and hunters. Then I don't understand how on your site you boast that you love nature, when you kill its essential components, animals, for fun. You have a strange conception of love! ”.
Veneziano explained his point of view and that of the hunters: “By love we intend to guarantee animals the best conditions to live. Then, we must take into account that in their life path animals can also find death… ”. “It's a pity - Mario Tozzi sarcastically pointed out - that you decide when the animals will die. You hunters should understand that the only feeling you should have is shame! ”. "Thank goodness - replied the president of Arci Caccia - that not all environmentalists are like her ...". The "duel" lasted about half an hour. The feeling it has left is that of a total lack of communication between the supporters and detractors of hunting.
