The Enpa of Genoa, on the verge of bankruptcy, has suspended the recovery of wild animals in difficulty due to lack of funds and is looking at the proceeds of the hunting cards.
Starting from July 15, the Province of Genoa has announced the suspension of the recovery, care and release service for wildlife in difficulty due to the lack of the necessary funds.
The commitment of the Region and the councilor for hunting Renata Briano to give help to the Genoese Enpa in order to guarantee at least the minimum service as it seems that the animal rights activists consider the funds found even "ridiculous" to nothing.
In fact, it seems that the ENPA spends between 500 and 800 euros a month only for fuel for recoveries throughout the province of Genoa and despite the funds raised, some jobs would still be at risk.
Dall'Enpa explain the situation, “A service that we have performed so successfully for 5 years and which is suspended because there is no more money. Since we have not received any response to our request for explanations to save both the animals and the jobs, we turned to the Liguria Region, in the person of the councilor for hunting, Renata Briano, who really worked hard , and we thank you wholeheartedly, but the money found is "ridiculous" ".
Going on, the animal rights activists further explain, “Needless to say, we are at a loss at this date! Next week we will have a meeting with the representatives of the Province and we will certainly be able to make ourselves available to care for animals in difficulty, but only if they are delivered to the Animal Assistance clinic ”.
Concluding at the Enpa they turn their gaze to the much mistreated and criminalized hunters stating that it is now "useless to continue to complain about the law that requires that part of the money from the hunters' cards (the Province collects almost one million euros) must be used for animals and wild habitat. They are nothing more than written letters that no one, it seems, has an interest in respecting. We are saddened, but since we are in the midst of births we can only make ourselves available but only for the cure, neither recovery, nor release. We can't afford it, too many of us have already put their own and can't ask yet ”.
So summing up the situation, the hunters would be "criminals" but their money, those spent for the renewal of the hunting cards, are still necessary for animal rights activists because without they could not guarantee the protection of the fauna and their own jobs; but then we ask ourselves: if hunting is abolished and hunters then there will be no more, as these gentlemen often praise, who and with what money will pay their expenses and their salaries?
It is the classic dog that bites its tail… but we prefer it to be a hunting dog!
