The XNUMXth edition of the survey of water birds during the pre-nuptial migration on the Italian wetlands starts next February.
Also this year the hunters who collaborate with the Anatidi.it site will be involved in the XNUMXth edition of the survey of water birds during the pre-nuptial migration on the Italian wetlands. To better cover the territory and monitor new wetlands, we invite all passionate Italian swamp hunters to participate in this study.
Together we will be able to cover the Italian territory in a widespread manner. The surveys will have to be carried out over a period of time from February 30st to April 2012th XNUMX. It will be enough to count the various species of aquatic birds that will be sighted in the wetlands to monitor.
It would be particularly important to be able to monitor the same wetland throughout the survey period, carrying out the counts of the species present at least once for each decade of the month. In this way we will be able to trace exactly, in addition to the number, the arrival and departure of the various species of birds.
Subsequently these data will be collected, analyzed and subsequently published on the pages of the site Anatidi.it-Angra Onlus, the association that deals with scientific research and study of aquatic avifauna.
The aims of this work will be those of:
- detect and count the water birds in transit on the Italian peninsula during the pre-nuptial migration that will take them to the nesting sites of North-Eastern Europe;
- highlight the dates of greatest presence on our territory;
- verify the phenological status of water birds, particularly in some areas of southern, central and northern Italy.
The information to carry out the surveys, the survey forms and the list of the species subject to survey, can be viewed on the web page: https://www.anatidi.it/angra/index.asp?id_pagina=ripasso
In addition, to communicate the sightings made, you can use the appropriate form accessible from the Anatidi.it site at the page: https://www.anatidi.it/varie/avvistamenti.asp or by sending an email to:
[email protected], to which you can ask any information about the study.
Kind regards and good work
