Hunting and Migration: ANUU on the Italian migration pass, “the song thrush arrives”.
The second week of September was characterized by stable weather tending to beautiful, with only rain on Tuesday 9th. However, the high pressure did not leave us and with these weather conditions the passage of migratory species at the FEIN Ornithological Observatory in Aorsio was positive. Ringings were on average 60 specimens per day and on Saturday 6 the weekly record of 96 subjects analyzed was reached. Good was the passage of the Prispoloni and the Black Nurses, but the surprise was the ringing of the long-awaited Song Thrush on 8 September, repeated on 11 and Sunday 14 with two subjects.
Considering also the first week of September, it can be said that these first fifteen days of September are giving good results, after an almost non-existent summer. Although it falls within the norm, the presence of trans-Saharans such as Stiaccino, Torcicollo, Pigliacatcher, Luì grosso, Golden oriole and Cannaiola has once again been noticed, thus accompanying the presence of sedentary species such as Blackbird, Wood pigeon and Black Redstart which this year are numerically abundant and registered. even a little in all Italian regions.
The presence of the wild turtledove is also good, which has been noticed in many areas of the Center and North, but more numerous in the areas of the South and the islands. We hope that the new week will continue to be characterized by good weather but, above all, we hope for an excellent migration.
