The province of Bologna has started the hunting of partridge and red partridge according to the provincial management plan.
In application of the regional calendar, the provincial management plan provides for the collection in the Bolognese ATCs of a maximum of 602 partridges and 1.400 red partridges in the period between 16 September and 28 October 2012. The hunter must report, within 24 hours, the killing has occurred, by sending a specific form to the ATC Service Center.
This year there are substantial innovations for hunting partridge and red partridge species. The Emilia-Romagna Region has foreseen in its calendar that hunting is allowed only in the presence of provincial management plans that include:
- interventions on the environment aimed at improving the potential of the territory and mitigating the action of the limiting factors that condition the dynamics of the population;
- standardized monitoring of the same;
- the estimate of the annual profit increase;
- the drafting of a withdrawal plan commensurate with the dynamics of the population;
- the adoption of withdrawal control mechanisms that allow compliance with the planned plan.
The Province of Bologna then proceeded (with executive deed no. 1816/2012) to approve a withdrawal plan commensurate with the dynamics of the populations and based on the management plans prepared by the Bolognese ATCs in their respective annual programs.
The maximum quota of culling animals for the two species was as follows:
- partridge 602
- red partridge 1.400.
These are conservative samplings of both species, calculated on 15% of the summer consistency of gray partridges, excluding inputs intended exclusively for protected areas, and on 16% for red grouse, a percentage calculated on the pre-hunting census population, to which can add the young animals that are placed in the ATC, after evaluating the average mortality of the same.The period for hunting partridge and red partridge, according to the provincial calendar, begins on 16 September and ends on 28 October 2012.
For the purpose of constant and timely control of the planned collection, the hunter must report the killing, within 24 hours, by completing the appropriate form in its entirety (downloadable below, as attachment 3 to the aforementioned managerial act, or to the address www.atcbologna.org) and sending it to the ATC Service Center by fax (at 051 6388454) or by email (at [email protected]).
